Please expand the options entry/display options for dates on profile data entry to include Before XXXX, After XXXX, and Between XXXX-YYYY. The dates of birth, marriage and death for most historical profiles, the farther back in time we go, are very inexact and require us to use documentary evidence like dates wills were written or proven, dates of baptism, dates of mention in court records, and so on, to determine an approximate date range. This is critical to be accepted as most accurate and precise by historians. Without it, we end up with sloppy and often random, unsupported estimates.

So there clearly is concensus on a need for this before and after - when will we see it?
BIRTH also please Pam I have asked for a drop down menu for birth marriage death to include the bef, aft, between but its fell on deaf ears PAF Legacy etc allows these to be written into these fields - and for death the died as infant child or young also as these are allowed to be actually written into the data field as a date of death. I an not sure how GENI handled these from the GEdcoms back when they allowed them but fear they were knocked out and left blank.
Yes please.
that or a clicable option for before=bef and after=aft since this are not accepete within the data range - and those dates have been excluded by GENI if noted as such in gedcoms - all ofther program allows support for the bef, aft, and adt. put in as ei "abt 1895" This is where alot of the data that is/was in GEDCOM's have been lost GENI refused to accept it into their fields - Legace, PAF and MY family Tree supports this
A suggestion I wholeheartedly agree with. A shame it is almost a year after it was suggested, and still not even marked as "Planned"
I would also be a useful feature to be able to indicate a calendar.

This would be very useful. For example, someone died 1 July 1860 aged 60. I know they were born somewhere between 2 July 1799 and 1 July 1800. Right now all I can do is c. 1799 or c. 1800.
Another case is where I know someone was alive at date a and deceased at date b.
Another nice feature would be the ability to show age at death. I have come across two relatives who died as infants - 3 months old and 9 months old, and I only know the year of their birth/death - would be nice to be able to show somewhere how old they were at death instead of trying to pick random dates that are 3 or 9 months apart in the year of birth/death.
If 'tick box' options include before and after, then one also needs to have separate dates ... which is then really the same as a range of date.
Janice, if what you mean by about is around a certain date (like around 1500) we already have it : "circa" is Latin and it means about or around. So, just tick the box "circa" to indicate the date is approximate.
But it is true we do need before and after. So many date I tick "circa" when I mean before or after.
An about/Abt. added to that would be good.
