I'm wanting to edit my husband's birth date, which is incorrect. He went in (as he was invited to do) and tried, himself, to edit it, and succeeded within his profile tab, but has not been able to do so at the higher tree level (and at the top of the tab). My uncle started up our Geni tree many years ago, and put in information for lots of family members, which is not all correct. He has been deceased for quite a while, but presumably is still listed as the tree owner and I can't seem to edit some of the information he has put in. I am the one who mostly manages the tree. How can I get permission to edit my husband's birth date (and any other incorrect information)?

Geni Support Team Hi Cynthia, since your husband claimed his account with his email address, only he is able to update the information on his profile. If he would like relatives to update his information, he can update his privacy settings here: https://www.geni.com/account_settings/profile_privacy . Check the box "Let my family edit my profile" and save.
If you are unable to update your uncle's profile, then it is likely still claimed. Please report his profile as Deceased by going to his profile page, click the "Actions" button at the top right, and select "Report." In the dropdown, choose "Deceased" and leave a comment (you can request management of the profiles he added). Once our team reviews the report, they will be able to assist with unclaiming the account so that you and your relatives can edit it.
