I've noticed that I'm getting listed as deceased when using exported GEDCOM files from Geni. The reason appears to be that I'm tagged on my great-uncles burial event along with the rest of the family that attended.
Either a) I've misunderstood what you're supposed to use the events and tagging people on events for, or b) there is a bug in the exporting code adding information about any burial you've been tagged to.
