Hello, 

my grandmother deceased a few months ago. She was a geni user (this account) and made the whole tree for our family. I have the access to the account as she gave me the password several years ago. I would like to keep using her account without making one of my own, but that doesn't give me the opportunity to change her status to deceased. Do I have to make my own account on geni and submit a report, that she has died, and if yes, will I still be able to use her account afterwards? I would like to preserve the family tree here and the have option to edit it whenever someone dies or is born.

  Hi, we're sorry to hear about your grandmother's passing. In order to update her profile, you will need to report it as Deceased via the Actions button so that our customer service team can unclaim the account.

  But before doing that, you will want to make sure you have claimed your own profile in the tree with your email address. If you have not done so already, go to your profile in the tree and send yourself an invitation to join. This will ensure that you will still have access to the tree after your grandmother's account is unclaimed. Once you have accepted the invitation to join, you may submit the report for your grandmother's profile. In your report, please add to the comments that you would like to request management of the profiles your grandmother added.
