My family tree has several profiles that were created by a manager who is no longer active. He created them three years ago. Unfortunately, that is also the last time he was online. By all accounts, he has abdicated his management. I don't know the reason. He either lost interest, lost his password or lost his life. How can I become the new manager for these long dormant profiles?

Jeff, Geni Curator I are a few ways to go about this, none of them real easy.
1). There is an option on each of the profiles under the right hand menu "More Actions" that has option for Request Management. This will send a message to the person, asking that you be added to the profile as a manager. He will then have the option to make you the primary manager.
2). Add a duplicate of the profile (as a sibling), then merge the two profiles. It will add you as a manager, and since your more active, it may make you the primary manager. Adding more information to the profile will increase your chances of you becoming the primary. You'll see this indicated in the merge screen by the primary manager being the one with the bold name.
3). Last resort, you could delete his profile and replace it with your own. He should receive a message that you deleted one of his profiles, so this method can upset people even if no information was lost.

Pam Wilson, Curator Marty, if these profiles are public profiles then a curator can help you with them. Please post your request on the Attention CURATORS Please Assist public discussion at http://www.geni.com/discussions/80793. Good luck!
