My daughter has by mistake been listed as my granddaughter, her son as my great grandson and her husband as my granddaughter's husband.
Why can I not change this?
This bug (or whatever it is) will probably make me find another program if ir's not fixed. Everybody can make a mistake first time trying something new, and changing/deleting should really be possible!
Somehow, my grandfather's children have been listed more than once. How do I remove these names? There has to be a way to do that. ggdown1@att.net
I've also added two people accidentally. I meant to list sibling but instead listed a SECOND spouse (step-parent) when there isn't a second spouse. All it let's me do is change a name but I don't want to change a name. I want to completely deletle the second spouse. Please help. jacqueline.donovan@corusent.com
Me too need some help, I did a merge, and took the the wrong person ( I had father and son with the same name). I have tried to delete the people..but the systems denied me. help me please.. if not I gona change to Herritage or Brothers Keepers.
I agree with all the comments. If it is possible to delete poeple then the method is well hidden. The program owners need to resolve this pronto and let all Geni users know the fix or folks are going to start going to other programs!!!

Our information and details were added incorrectly and without our knowledge. We want to be removed.
I need to remove a person who was put under the wrong last name and in the wrong place. I have tried but all moves are blocked and there is no way to delete her even though she is correctly placed elsewhere with the right last name.
I have added some names in error to the wrong father and i added the right father and put her name under him but now i have like her name 3 or 4 times. Although i manage these names and added them myself i am still unable to delete them. It says that she has joined the tree herself & she is the only one that can delete her name. I know that she has not joined & i am the only one that added her name. What can i do to fix this.

I will like very much to come bach to the "new brand". Help me, that it will be possible later, because I have many mistakes in my tree. But in next week I will be on the hospital in Viborg for operation. I do'nt knew. when it is possible to be back.

All mistakes can be fixed, but the circumstances are different for each - usually, it is easiest to see what's going on if you give the link to the profile you have problems with.
some answers:
- To delete an entry, click the little "x" in the upper right-hand corner of the box on the tree. You can only delete people at the "edge" - that is, people with no children, or people with no parents. If they are linked, you have to delete the links first.
- If children are listed more than once, drag them on top of each other using control-drag, and click "They are the same person". You will then get a page where you can review the merge. Use with care on older families - in older times, if a child died young, it was customary to give the next child the same name, leading to 2 children with the same name but different dates. Sometimes, you even have two children with the same name - so take care!
Of course, both merging and deleting requires that you have the right to edit those profiles. If you don't have, contact the manager.
To the original poster: If you click "edit" on your daughter's and go to the "relationships" tab, you will see a pulldown menu with the text listing the people currently listed as her parents. If you pull down this, you will see nearby marriages in the tree, and can change to one of them. Again, this requires that you have edit rights, and that there aren't multiple parents listed. If you can't edit, contact the manager of the profile.
I tried to follow the instructions of Mr Alvestrand but he didn't say how to delete the link to the person's parents. There is no X in the box I want to delete.
Also he seems to think we can somehow give him a link to our profile. But the only address given in the profile is the geni.com one. What link does he want?
It seems to me that a simple question like this shouldn't require dozens of comments. Couldn't Geni just make this operation a bit more user-friendly?

How to REMOVE PARENTS
If you have x persons profile open - NOT in tree view but profile,
then you can choose EDIT PROFILE from the left section, from there you choose tab named RELATIONSHIPS and after some waiting it shows in the very bottom of this tab X is connected to your tree in X ways.
From this section you can mark which relationships you want to remove and then click button in right bottom side REMOVE.
Now, if this x person dont have any more people related to him/her, you can delete this profile like it was described in mr Alvestrand's post.
Next, the address or direct link to any profile you can find in browser's address line while you have this person's profile opened. Just copy and paste it, it looks like this:
It would be better if the people giving all this good advice would try it out first on a real profile. What Ms/Mr. Kalijulind suggests appears to be a forbidden operation - Geni did not let me delete the relationship, saying it would split the tree which is incorrect. Mr Alvestrand's suggestion doesn't work either. I have wasted enough time with Geni and will look for a more user-friendly site.

I am trying to remove an ex girlfriend from it who i have no connection with and no matter what i try it refuses to allow me to delete her off my tree
Anthony, have you tried to delete the relationship under the relationship tab (select remove). That might do the job.
yes, i tried several times but it doesnt allow me to click the remove button, it allows me to select who i want to remove but not actually allow me to remove

Anthony, so it's a claimed profile? There is no way we can delete a claimed profile. That's like deleting someone else's Facebook account. That's odd that you can't delete the relationship though. If you want, I can send you an request to edit your profile to see if I'm able to break the connection.

I would also like to delete someone from my tree. "Edit Profile > Relationships > Remove does NOT" work.
It says "Warning: Removing these connections will split the tree." and wont let me hit the "remove" button.
