Why is there a path one day, and no path the next?

Forgive me if this question has been asked and answered before, but one day on Geni I find that I am related to someone (e.g., Charles, Prince of Wales), and a couple of days later, the site says that no such path exists. Is this a bug, or some other site error?

  It's possible that the path was disconnected some where.  You may want to walk the path and make sure everything is still connected as it should be.
