I want to follow more people in my family tree.
I was able to do a few when I joined.
But don't know what to do.
Also, I'd like to see who I am following.
Thanks.

You can follow people by going to their profile and clicking the "Follow" button on the right-hand side. You can see who your following on your profile page under the Overview tab (on the bottom right-hand side).
So, you follow someone! Just what does that mean?
you didn't explain what does 'follow' means in this context
According to the Geni page (http://www.geni.com/list/followers/) "Followers receive recent activity updates. Profile privacy determines which updates they will receive." So, the public activity (adding public profiles, updating public profiles, public discussions, etc.) of that user is displayed in your "news feed" on the home page. I believe if you follow an ancestor profile (non-claimed), updates to the profile will also appear in your feed even if your not following the person that made the changes.
