Hi There,

Greetings of the day. Google search for my spouse name returned with her picture and points to the Geni page. When I clicked it further, I got a message saying wife of a private user. I have my settings as private for all categories under the privacy settings and under permissions have removed search engine indexing. I am able to search my family members names on google and their pictures again are the ones I uploaded on Geni. None of them have logged onto Geni. I wonder why they are searchable on Geni even though I have my settings as private? Any help is much appreciated? On a side note, I have a Geni basic account and tried to submit a ticket but was not allowed. Is it only for paid subscribers? Thanks in advance.

  Hi Sundar,

  Every user controls what is listed publicly on their profile. Your wife claimed her account in 2010, which means she would have needed to update her own privacy and permission settings if she does not want to be found on Google. We see that her emails are bouncing, so we've updated her permission settings on her behalf.

  If you have other living relatives who are appearing in Google, then it's likely they have also claimed their accounts and will need to update their own privacy and permission settings.
