On the profile of a deceased first wife, the children of the second wife show up as "stepchildren" of the first wife. I don't consider them to be "stepchildren" of the first wife, and I want to hide these "stepchildren" on the profile of the first wife. There is a circa-2012 post [ https://help.geni.com/hc/en-us/articles/229703567-Why-are-people-referred-to-as-a-stepparent-or-step-sibling-in-my-family-tree- ] here on Geni that shows how to do this, but the instructions no longer work. How do I do this?

Geni Support Team Hi Robert. The steps in the FAQ are still correct, but I have updated it with screenshots to better illustrate each step.
You can only hide step relationships on private profiles. If you do not see "Edit" then it is possible you are viewing a public profile or you do do not have permission to make the change.

Robert Normant I'm the primary (and only) manager of the profile(s). It's a circa-1800 profile, so I can't make it private (and would not want to do so). So I guess I have to either accept Geni's display of the post-death stepchildren or delete their profiles.

Geni Support Team Can you send the link to the profile? I will pass on your feedback to expand this feature to public profiles.

Robert Normant Here's one example Barbora Bružaitė Narmontienė https://www.geni.com/people/Barbora-Narmontien%C4%97/6000000178420608826 who died in 1808 has 3 "stepchildren" born between 1811 and 1816. [In my opinion, a deceased woman cannot be a "stepmother" of a child born after her death.]
