gedcom gift

I was sent a gedcom for my husbands side of the family ( trusted source) but I've already started his side in his name. Can I still import this Ged com? and will it ask me to merge ( it's alright if it does). Any advice would be welcome.  eileen

  Yes, you could import the GEDCOM but all profiles that are already on Geni would have to be merged (by you or another Geni user). 

  If you are a basic user finding the profile to merge can be a bit difficult, so it may be easier to upload the GEDCOM to a SmartCopy supported site and use SmartCopy to only copy over those profiles not already on Geni.
