Merging inactive profiles

I’ve been trying to merge profiles from my relatives but I can’t do so because the other profiles are locked. Their respective administrators are inactive because:

1. Some of those people have not logged in for years.
2. Some of those people have forgotten their e-mail account / password, and have duplicated accounts.
3. Some of those people are deceased.

Is it possible to unlock those profiles in order I can do the merge? I've tryed the following:

1. Reporting some people as deceased; nothing happened.
2. Reporting some administrators as inactive; it sets as the new administrator another inactive administrator!

  For merging profiles you can ask for assistance in https://www.geni.com/discussions/245980, but for merging private profiles born in the last 150 years you need assistance from a profile manager.

  Users with duplicate accounts or problems with their password can ask assistance from subscriptions@geni.com

  You can not really see if a manager is active, the date you see is from the latest change, but you cannot see it the manager has logged on after that date without making modifications. So it may look like Geni assigns a manager that is inactive without that being the case. If the new manager really is inactive you can report him/her as inactive as well (otherwise you will not get the option to do that)

  If the profile is for a public profile or a profile for a person born more than 150 years ago you can ask a curator for help with merging (use https://www.geni.com/discussions/245980 or contact a specific curator which has knowledge about that part of the tree see https://www.geni.com/curators)

  If it is a private profile born less than 150 years ago only a manager of the profile or a user within the family group of a manager of that profile can help you.

  Thank you, Job Waterreus. Forgive me, English is not my first language, when I said “administrator”, I meant “manager”.

  That’s the problem:

  • I’ve tried to contact profile managers months ago and I had no response;
  • Some of them haven’t been active for years;
  • When I go to the “Actions” button and I select the “Inactive Manager” option, Geni assigns a new manager which is also inactive!!!

  Wouldn’t it be easier to simply ask curators to merge profile X with profile Z?

  Well, unfortunately, I see that I will never be able to merge those profiles... Thank you, anyway.

  By the way, what does it mean when Geni returns a message saying “Unable to find a replacement manager.”? Is it possible for a profile to have no manager at all?

  It means that at the moment there is no other user in the family group, so no extra manager can be assigned (when a manager is reported inactive Geni tries to find an extra (active) manager from the users that are in the family group).

  You might be able to change that not finding another manager by merging a public profile so that another user (or yourself) gets into the family group. If not there is not much you can do.

  If the profile has been born nearly 150 years ago, you can wait till it can be made public, otherwise you have to be lucky that a new user will start using Geni who is in the family group or someone merges a profile so a new user will be become a family group member.
