I became my father... no idea what happened, how to fix it

I created a Geni basic profile some weeks ago. A cousin linked me to his tree and somehow I became my deceased father and my email address and profile now point to him. Compared to Ancestry, this system seems very feeble, poorly designed, and EXTREMELY slow. How on earth would my profile have been swapped to my deceased father? Why does he have my email address - I never did that! And how can I fix this foul-up? And why would someone else be able to change my profile in the first place? Any suggestions as to why I should continue using this system would also be welcomed. Thank you.
