Jeff, Geni Curator Diane, I'm not understanding your question.

Diane Zinn I have a list of 6 family members for whom I need new profiles. I'm not sure where they fit into my geneology. I just want to know where to enter the names so I can get a new profile of each. I have tried all the search icons, but nothing seems to work.

Jeff, Geni Curator The only way to create a profile for someone that is not connected to your tree is to create them as connected, but then have a pro member disconnect them. If you're looking to invite someone to Geni, you could just send them a link to join.

Diane Zinn They all are connected to my tree. My profiles are just really old and in a different format than the current ones, and I just want to update them, but I can't find anywhere to enter the name to get a current profile.

Jeff, Geni Curator You could try the search at the top, navigate to them through the tree, or use the navigation tab at the bottom of the tree.

Diane Zinn Search at the top doesn't work.

Jeff, Geni Curator How do you mean? Such that you're hitting a paywall after clicking on a search result or it's just not working? If it's just not working, that's something to do with your computer. I'd look at javascript blocking or trying a different browser.

Harold Lumicao Liban To Jeff, Geni Curator,
Okay, you've connected a new profile to a tree. To remove the new profile, can you click the "X" at the upper right hand corner of the Node? That disconnects or removes the profile Node from the tree, so what happens to the Profile Node? Does it just stand alone by its lonesome and from there you can start a new branch of your tree? What if there is no "X" on the Node, how is the Profile removed?

Jeff, Geni Curator Clicking the [x] will delete the profile, not disconnect it. The only way to disconnect a profile is to edit the profile's relationship tab and remove the parents. This is referred to as "splitting a tree" and is available to Geni Pro members. Once done, the two will exist on Geni as separate and disassociated branches.
