Currently, you cannot upload a GEDCOM to Geni. We disabled GEDCOM uploads because they created a tremendous amount of duplicates in the past. This caused a lot of hours of additional work for curators and members of the community to merge all the duplicates and clean up the World Family Tree. You can read more about it in our FAQ.
We are looking into bringing back a limited GEDCOM importer in the near future. In the mean time, you may want to check out SmartCopy, a browser extension created by a volunteer curator that lets users copy and update information from various sources into Geni.
I'm with you on this Terri, I've been wondering exactly the same thing. It's such a big platform that it's not unreasonable to expect at least one geni admin/helper to call in here every day to answer questions. Very odd in my view. I'll keep watching this, interested to see if Geni admin post a reply.
