Hi - Can someone please help to unmerge a tree that is incorrect (different family).
Isabella Clarkson was only married once and another user has identified my relatives as theirs consequently merging their tree into mine. But it is wrong and the other user has identified the wrong family. I need someone to unmerge where Isabella Clarkson is married to 'Unknown'.

I'm a bit confused. The only merge I see on that profile was the one you did on May 24th, so the other person appears to be you. But it does look like an accurate merge based on the profiles.

There was an inaccurate child on the tree, but it seems you've created a maze of unknowns and deleted profiles.
I'm trying to fix it... also, please don't privatize long deceased profiles. That's not what the feature is for.. it's to protect the privacy of living people. Geni is a open and collaborative tree.
I think I got it straight, but there are a couple points of confusion. Did Alexander Forrester's wife marry a Clarkson or was that just there as a placeholder?
And the big question, is Alexander Benson McMillian the son of James and Margaret?

They are listed as his parents on several MyHeritage trees, but I don't take that as any evidence. It may be that he was confused with Alexander Forrester McMillian. Otherwise, they'd be twins and it would be weird that they had the same name.

Thanks so much for taking the time to fix my tree. I appears now to be all correct.
It was me that merged the trees of Alexander Forrester McMillian with Alexander Benson McMillan by mistake. Alexander Benson McM's profile manager sent the request to me, and I merged it in error.
This was the cause of all my issues. I have seen Alexander Benson McM on other family trees in My Heritage, etc (same as you), but he is definitely NOT the son of my James and Margaret. I believe his researchers have got the wrong set of parents - James and Margaret or more likely they have identified the wrong Alexander (Benson) McMillan as being the same person as my Alexander Forrester McM.
I apologise for hacking with the tree yesterday creating a confusing maze. I was trying to split the tree by adding/deleting profiles. Yes - didn't work and won't do that again! :(
Re: Privacy setting. Yes I agree with you. I am making long deceased profiles public again. They were up until six months ago, but had an issue with a current living relative causing me grief. Pity they aren't long deceased! Arhh Family!!

Happy to help - I added a curator note to the top of Alexander Benson McMillan's profile that says "Not the son of James and Margaret. James and Margaret's son was Alexander Forrester McMillan." Hopefully this will prevent editors of that tree from re-adding that ancestry and causing the same confusion in the future.

I put an address of one family member onto another's profile and their tree merged in the wrong place. Colleen Summerson is not the daughter of Victor Boardman and Glenda Nicholls (Katherine Nicholls is). She is the daughter of Grace Dashwood (nee Boardman). I have since added this part of the tree and need to delete Colleen Summerson as the daughter of Victor and Glenda and get the tree to merge on Colleen Summerson the daughter of Grace Summerson. Is this possible.

Jill, I've disconnected Colleen Summerson from Victor and tried to clean up that merge set. Let me know if there are any additional issues.
