Search for documents I have uploaded

I have uploaded over 250 documents, which comes to 8 pages to scroll through, which discourages citing documents to support facts.

I put in a help request, and got a helpful response, that I could go

Research->Documents

and change the sorting from "Upload date" to "Document title", but we can't always remember what the title of a document was.

As a programmer, I know it would be very easy to implement a search for a word or phrase within the DocumentTitle field of the database of documents.

Please respond with some discussion of this idea.

  I too have some 200 uploaded documents that have no categorization.  I see a box to select those documents that you have in a particular category, but I've not ever noticed a way to categorize a particular document.  A simple keyword search function would be nice.

  Hi Michael,

  The way to categorize documents is to edit them.

  When you open the Research menu and select Documents, you can select one of your documents, and then one of the Actions is Edit Document. In that dialog you can categorize the document.

  Also, whenever you upload a document, there is an Edit button in the dialog, and, as part of my usual procedure, I open the Edit dialog and fill in the fields that I can.

  But, of course, many documents don't fit any of the categories. For example, a letter about someone could list details of her birth and of her marriage and of her death. We can cite the document in relation to these facts, but it would be misleading to categorize the document as belonging to any one of these categories.

  For references to published family trees, I categorize them as Other, and that helps to reduce the number of documents I have to scroll through when I want to make a particular profile reference a particular document.

  Yes, a way of searching for a word or phrase in the title of a document at this point would be a big help, and it would be very easy to implement.
