I've been identifying and getting help "un-merging" numerous profiles to fix tree conflicts. What I notice is that when merging profiles, Geni highlights at the bottom when birthdates are not matching/ten years apart, but with so many profiles, and common names, it is really easy to merge two profiles that have birth dates close, similar names, etc..
The merge "window" puts the two profiles side by side, and highlights some information in green that is perceived as "correct". But the things to really watch out for (different parent names, different sibling names) - these are HUGE to consider before doing a merge. So maybe highlight them in red, bold, ?? with a suggestion to check these before completing the merge, as this is the place to prevent many tree conflicts.
