I want to close both my and my wife's account in order to remove ourselves from being marked as added by (over 7,000), updated by and managed by 3,831 Geni profiles. I will create new profiles and tie ourselves back into the big tree.
Here's why I want to do this.
In 2009 I uploaded a GED that my mother had created in order to share ancestry with cousins after our grandparents passed. I spent time cleaning up this GED and more time to merge it into the big tree. What I did not realize at 1st, was how many people my mother had in that GED of living people. At least out to 4th and 5th cousins and all their descendants she could find. I did not take the time to delete profiles one by one in 2009.
Now it's 2018, years later and my mother has since added 637 profiles to Geni, mostly of living people and all tied to profiles I uploaded and manage. To both profiles I added from her GED and profiles my mother has added, she's also added profile pictures (stolen) from Facebook and added text notes about these people to their Geni profiles. There are now 100's of living unclaimed profiles on Geni with pictures and notes added by my mother BUT they're marked as added by and managed by me and my wife.
I do not speak to my mother, she's nuts. BUT my wife, a few 1st cousins and I have asked her over the years to stop adding pictures (stolen from Facebook) and info to profiles of our kids and those close to us. However, after a few years, she adds stuff again.
I like Geni but I really don't want to look like I'm team stalking with my mother.
I'm going to create new accounts for my wife and I. Assign management of select profiles to the new accounts and then delete the current accounts with the management of these "stalker profiles".
Is this the best way to go about this?
Is there any chance my mother will get management of profiles I let go of?
Other suggestions to deal with this are welcome.
Thanks
