Discussion tab on a profile - Missing indication

Is it possible to add an indicator which shows that a discussion actually exists, in addition to the indicator which shows the number of unread posts?

  Can I suggest that we keep one indicator, but bold the number when there is a new post that the user hasn't read.

  Personally, I view the "Discussions" tab number as being like an inbox notification, so I like that it's only there when I have something new to read.

  So I think Hubert's suggestion, or something similar, would be best -- have something that signifies there are past discussions *and* have a signifier of new content.
