Job Waterreus As a basic user you can only use the Geni search to find profile you or your collaborators manage (when logged on). You can find public profiles using an external search enige like Google (for Google you can add site:geni.com to your search to limit it to data on Geni)
If you are not logged on you can use the Geni search to find public profile on Geni. So you could also use 2 sessions to search in one session and use the result in the other session.
