A downloadable Geni application that will enable you to install on your computer in order to upload a GEDCOM file to view Geni.com exports on a stand-alone laptop.

Does any one know whether there is a downloadable Geni application that will enable you to install on your computer in order to upload a GEDCOM file (which has been exported from Geni) so that it may be viewed in the Geni format as a stand alone option on your own computer.

It is useful to have your Tree or Forest on your own computer as an archive, but unless you import the GEDCOM into another program (such as "Family Tree Builder", you cannot view your archived GEDCOM file.
To view it in a strange format (non Geni format) is also not useful and detracts from the very clean and easy to view Geni format that I am used to.

This sort of feature would be useful so as to be able to transport the Family Tree to relatives who do not have computer access or do not have access to Geni.com so as to show / tell them about the Family Tree.

I realise that for good reasons Geni does not allow GEDCOM uploads and I agree entirely with the reason behind this decision, but it would be really nice to be able to download and view your Tree in a stand alone mode on a laptop etc.

Any ideas anyone.

Regards from South Africa.
