A family member added a person to my tree who is not related at all to the family. She is the manager of that person so there is no X that I can easily delete. Is there another way for me to delete that person?

Jeff, Geni Curator Is it a claimed profile? You might just want to send your relative a message and discuss it with her. If you can edit the persons profile, you might be able to remove the parent relationship, disconnecting that person from the tree. But without discussion, your relative might just add it right back and lock you out of it. Better to discuss the situation and get cooperation - have her move or delete it.

Lewis John Knight, II I want to delete my ex partner who is not related, does anyone know how to do this?
-
Jeff, Geni Curator If the profile is unclaimed, then it should have a little (x) above it. Otherwise, you could just remove your relationship to the partner in the Relationship tab - wait for it to populate, then click remove.
-
Lewis John Knight, II I have had a look for the relationship tab, could you tell me where it is? Thanks
-
Jeff, Geni Curator In tree view, you can click Edit on your profile and then it's at the top of the profile. In the profile view, you click edit profile and it's the second tab at the top. Wait for "Loading Relationships..." to finish.

Lewis John Knight, II I must really be thick, I can't manage to remove it
-
Jeff, Geni Curator So, are you seeing the connection in the relationship tab? Once populated, does it give you the option to click the check box for the partner? Is the "Remove" option available? What is it you're seeing or not seeing?
-
Lewis John Knight, II Yes I am seeing the check box and the remove button but when pressed (after waiting) nothing happens.

Kristine Grårud I have the same problem as Lewis K, II. But what exactly is a "claimed" profile as you say Jeff G? I've tried to delete it in the relationship tab, but the "button" that I must klick to fullfill it wont activate. Irritating! I've tried to update a lot of times, but that wont help either. Hope you can help me, please.

Jeff, Geni Curator Kristine, a claimed profile is one that is owned by that person. An e-mail invite was sent to them and they joined Geni. They now have control and restrictive rights to their profile. For example, you're profile is claimed since you are a member of Geni and your family can not edit or delete it, only you can. If it's a public profile, include the link and the connection you wish to break and I can manage that for you. If you have rights, you might be able to make it temporarily public for me to address it, then change it back.
-
Lewis John Knight, II How do you temporarily make it public?
-
Jeff, Geni Curator Here are the instructions for setting the Public/Private option. When I say temporarily, I mean to make it public, let me do my magic, then you make it private again.
-
Lewis John Knight, II And how do I do that Jeff, I am useless at this sort of thing.
Cheers, Lewis

Jeff, Geni Curator Sorry, meant to post this link with that last post. http://www.geni.com/blog/how-to-make-a-profile-public/
-
Lewis John Knight, II Thanks for that, I have now made it public, how do I delete it?
-
Jeff, Geni Curator I stated in response to Kristine's question that if you posted a link to the profile, I could try to break the connection. This is a bit different than your situation, but I can look at it. We might still be able to break the connection, so while the profile is still on Geni, it's not connected to your tree. Have you discussed it with your family member? I don't want to get into the middle of a family feud by deleting or disconnecting a profile that someone wants there and someone else doesn't.
-
Lewis John Knight, II The person in question is my ex partner who I have absolutely no contact with and neither does anyone else, we weren't married. Nobody would be affected by her removal.
Cheers, Lewis
-
Jeff, Geni Curator Lewis, can you post a link to (or a name of) the profile that you made public? I can't see your ex through your profile and don't have permission to view your tree.
-
Lewis John Knight, II The name of the person is Diane Craven, I have no idea how to post a link.
Cheers, Lewis
-
Jeff, Geni Curator Lewis, I have disconnected her from you. Here is a link to her profile in the tree. http://www.geni.com/family-tree/index/6000000003206375672 You should now be able to delete it or you can make it private again and leave it.
-
Lewis John Knight, II Many thanks for that, It seems to have been deleted.
Cheers, Lewis
-
Jeff, Geni Curator It's still there... I think the link just got messed up. Here it is again. http://www.geni.com/family-tree/index/6000000003206375672
-
Lewis John Knight, II Hello Jeff, I tried the link and like you said it was still there, however Diane's profile is no longer on my tree. Thanks a million. Cheers, Lewis
-
Jeff, Geni Curator It's fine if you leave it, but I'd highly suggest you make it private again. It's bad form to publish someones personal info open to the web. It was only intended to be temporarily public.
-
Lewis John Knight, II Hello Jeff, Just remind me how I make it private again.
Cheers, Lewis
-
Jeff, Geni Curator No problem, here is a link to the video.
-
Lewis John Knight, II Hello Jeff, I must be really thick, I can't click on the profile to edit it if it isn't there and isn't showing.
Cheers, Lewis
-
Jeff, Geni Curator Don't worry about it... I'll just delete it. :-)
-
Lewis John Knight, II Thanks Jeff, you are a star. Good Luck.
Cheers, Lewis

Laurent Kassel I have a mistake to correct for my ancestor Issachar Behr Lehmann. I tried to make the profile public and could not find the box to check. So I am stuck.
His wife was Ella and by mistake it was added that his wife was Hanna (actually his mother).
In the attached file, there is seemingly an option to do this but the button can't be pressed.
How can I break the wrong relationship?
Best regards,
Laurent
