Why can't I send "Free" Birthday, Anniversary gifts?

When notified of a birthday/anniversary to send a greeting and gift I have always gotten the option of sending a "Free" gift for whatever the occasion.  Now that option doesn't come-up anymore.  I cannot afford to join your Geni Plus; I am a senior & live on a limited income.  Is the "Free" option no longer an option?

  The virtual gift have been made a pro or Geni plus feature and can only be accessed by having a membership such as the pro or plus. The guestbook is still available for you to leave a message.
