I want all my family members to be able to see my tree, but not be able to edit anything - that is, via a 'Read Only' mode. I don't want everyone editing and doing things without my knowledge It's much more preferable and logical for one person only to be able to edit, otherwise one loses control of what is going on.
Assuming that family members wishing to view the tree join Geni, is there a 'Read Only' mode for them, whereby they see the tree EXACTLY as I do?

No, Geni is a collaborative tree. If you go in with control issues, you're going to be very disappointed, particularly as you get higher in the tree and it becomes public and editable by any pro member. The idea is to work in a collaborative fashion, adding references and fully connecting the tree. You'll be able to keep track of what's going on, if other family members edit or build on to the tree via your revisions tab based on what you manage, follow, or those within your family group.
