Somehow geni has automatically decided the home address of the deceased is where they are buried, as opposed to cremated. Why does this thing decide such scenarios without an input from the user?

Permanently deleted user Please note that you are currently only able to notate Death and Burial via the Basics section. However, you may create an Event in that person's Timeline to help illustrate this.
Also, this is a direction which we are currently moving towards. As many cultures practice various death, birth, marriage and other rites- we are looking for ways to enable our users to personally and accurately reflect these within the profiles they manage.
