Why are people able to merge into my tree without my permission?

I have had people suddenly merge into my tree with garbage merges where the only relationship is the first and last name.  I cannot remove those bad merges from my tree, and additionally, I have others merging into my I do not want.  Why is this allowed to happen?  There has been a huge investment in time making the tree accurate and then to just have some random stranger plow into it and merge it like this seems insane.  Is there a reasonable explanation for this, and is there a way I can fix what they broke?

  Exactly, the same has happened to me and people have changed profiles I have added. Someone added a branch with Adam and Eve and God Almighty. I worked hard on my family tree, it was a project between my cousin and myself.  Found out from a friend that Geni Pros can now merge without permission. With this info it makes Geni useless to use as so many additions are incorrect. It will give Geni a bad name with these kinds of things going on.

  Finding more and more ridiculous additions to my family tree added by people I don't know. Feeling like all the hard work of putting it together has been a waste of time!

  Curators merge without permission, these people do what they want, when they want on this site, i had an experience where they added a stranger as someones parent. They curator was allowed to do that.

  I had exactly the same experience, read my post in community help "merging big trees, a good and a crazy method". I would be interested in your comments and support.

  We had many other violations from the same curator, subject of 9 successive claims to Geni in 3 months. Only part of these claims are solved, preparing now claim 10 that will go direct to the CEO and a new post "vandalism by curator (cutting our tree) not repaired despite several claims" that will be posted here.

  It takes many claims and a lot of time and patience, because client support is protecting the curators who are responsible of misconduct, and not paying much attention to the users, even when they are pro, but it happens that at least part of the problems can be solved. Write to client support, then to the manager of this department, then to the CEO. Don't do like me waste time writing too many repeats to the client support, they end up making circles...and you may well become crazy before them...

  "Curators" need to keep their nosy computers to themselves!  My sister and I invested SO much time into this family tree and now we have a bunch of unknown people manipulating the tree, merging unknown people ... it's all a big mess now.  If I can find another site, I will definitely move our REAL data over and leave the trash heap the curators created.

  Randy:  http://www.geni.com/people/Kathrine-Noble/6000000001912082996 is one example of the MANY people who have been added to our family tree without permission.  Just because there is an "Avery" in our family tree, doesn't mean some random person can invade our family tree and connect a bunch of other Averys ... questionably related ... and a bunch of other surnames that may or may not be related.  Why don't people just leave other people's stuff alone and let people build their OWN family tree!!!!

  This is the link to the branch of my tree that does not belong there. It is absurd. The same name but about 50 years different in age! Wrong part of the country, but lots of history. I have worked too hard to keep this clean.

  Margo, can you describe what exactly you want done - which relationship is incorrect.  Which profile needs to be disconnected from whom?

  John Green born in 1774 and all of his relatives do not belong. If they could disappear I would be pleased!
