Noel D Pulleine I too have reached my 100 limit. geni now wants me to pay a kings ransom to include the rest of any of my family who may join. I was a GeniPro user in 2009 and that cost me $48.00 or so for the year. Geni has doubled that for 2011. I will not be inviting any more of my family but will be encouraging them to find a more freindly site. There is no Gedcom file and that is a major error on Geni's behalf to ask for such a premium membership cost. I used to regularly download a Gedcom file and merge it into a stand alone "Family Tree 2011".. I don't appreciate all the work I have done being nobled because Geni technicians can't work out the problems with duplicates. Once gone, I like others won't come back.. my tree roots will be firmly rooted somewhere else!!

Brent Pillsbury Totally agree. I have worked so hard and actually had my class do a project using GENI and now I too must look elsewhere. Bummer.

Noel D Pulleine I have written this and posted it on my Facebook site about Geni.com and the 100 limit they are now imposing on members. They have doubled the membership price for Geni pro and removed the GEDCOM facility with a weak excuse.. in reality, they could be seen as cutting off the legs of members to stop them from walking away and forcing them to stay. The 100 limit will force them to pay for the inflated Geni Pro version or anyone wanting to walk legless will have to manually copy every person into a new genealogy program. I use Family Tree and it requires that you have a working GEDCOM file that Geni has blocked since January. They say they did it to prevent double entries from being exported and their technicians are working on it.. rubbish! They can’t achieve what all the other programs out there are already doing. Maybe a letter to a well know newspaper/magazine would help.. just might look for one

Natalie MacLees Ranjani - Our premium accounts, Geni Plus and Geni Pro, offer a 14-day free trial.
Noel - I think there's some confusion between our GEDCOM export and GEDCOM import functionality. You can now, and have always been able to, export A GEDCOM of your family tree for use as a backup or to use for moving your family tree to other software and sites. You may go here to export your family tree: http://www.geni.com/gedcom.
We have not allowed our users to import GEDCOM files to our site for some time because there were many, many issues caused in our World Family Tree. We are working on ways to prevent these issues and plan to make GEDCOM import available again for our customers at some time in the future.

Яна Чонка Hi, so what is the time limit to be forced for premium or pro account once 100 limit is reached? I have had for some time notification that there is more than 100 people in my tree and that I can not add anymore people, but I still can. Thanks in advance

Tom Connors I agree. I seldom visit the site and just noticed the 100 limit warning at the top of the page. Guess there can be no more births on my tree.... if there's a death, can a birth be added? Or are you counting each entry dead or alive. So much time wasted with all this, time to move on to Ancestry, or just call it quits.
