I wrote support a long time ago and never received a response.
I added someone as a joke, my cousin was offended, I need to delete the person.
I have tried EVERYTHING. And apparently the only thing I can do is merge the profile, and the only way I can do that is to upgrade to Geni Pro apparently.
I created the profile, but it won't let ME delete it.
Geni, you are a frustratingly crappy site. :(
If you make an error why can you not delete or correct it?
Apart from the last comment in the original message, I agree- I would very much like this answered. I had entered my mother in my tree, and invited her in. I then merged with another tree where she was also entered. We were then trying to merge her two profiles.
I am a pro member, she is not . I could not merge the profiles, only request a merger as she had logged on and now owned her own profile. When she tried to merge the two entries, she was told she had to upgrade to pro to do this. This is an error that really puts me off purchasing the pro upgrade - as of now, I am still trying it out. Is this company policy??? I hope it is only an error, or the solution is much less userfriendly than it should be.
Ida, if your non-Pro mother goes into Privacy Settings > Permission Settings, and checks "Let my family edit my profile," are you then able to edit it as a Pro who's in her family?
Thank you Daniel! I tried (not with my mother - we managed to delete one of her profiles in the end, so we "tricked" the solution), but with my husband, with whom I had a similar problem. Here, another researcher had added his original profile. It did indeed seem to work better when my husband allowed me (as family) to edit his profile, so thank you! I think this probably would have solved the problem I had with my mother's profile in a much better way than the way I did it.
