I have the same problem. When I go to edit relationships, the remove box is greyed out. Clicking save does nothing. How do I sever our trees?
Me too - yet there seems to be no help!
First - note that in a sense, this is not desired/ is against Geni's basic concept - once a partner or fiancee, they are now an ex-partner or ex-fiancee - change to same, and leave attached. This correctly documents the historical relationship. However, I am aware many do not desire this - quite possibly strongly do not desire this.
A couple of possibilities -- if this person does not have a claimed account (and was never sent an invite), and no one else is attached thru him/her:
1) in Tree View (standard view), the box should show a little "x" in the upper right corner - clicking it deletes the Profile.
2) one of my relatives simply (much to my annoyance) changes the Profile name, date of birth, etc. to that of her current Partner (this despite the fact she apparently had a child with her first husband -- and thus has also been repeatedly changing the identity of the child's father). I suppose it is one way to in a sense remove a person.
If the person does not have a claimed Profile, but was sent an invite, I believe you need to cancel the invite / delete the e-mail account first, then do as above.
If the person has others attached thru him/her -- then you will have to delete them first, or you will need Pro Status to split the Tree.
You have to have a Geni Plus or Pro account to split trees. I joined the 2 week trial version just for this. I'll decide after a week if pro is worth the money :)
If you send me a private message in Geni with the relationship you wish to disconnect, I'll try to help out. It may require temporarily granting me access to edit your profile and inviting me to your family group.
Same problem for me, greyed out Remove button. If this is a Pro feature it's not explained on screen. Can someone help me?
Even after I upgraded my account to "Pro", it doesn't let me split the tree. As many noted here, the "remove" button is greyed out. How can I get this button enabled? Please advise me.
Anil, that is odd. I thought that was a pro feature. You're welcome to send me a family group invite and I'd be happy to break it for you.
