I have over 10,000 people on my family tree database and am not at all interested in adding them to this site one-by-one. However I note that there are other people researching branches of my family and would like to make my tree available to others to share and compare notes. I haven't been able to find anything in the Help Topics that tells me how to do this. Is it possible to do so?

I would like an answer to this question too. I have three family trees that I have been working on. I too have no desire to reenter all that information for each individual. How about an answer here Geni folks. The woman has been waiting almost a month now. I will cancel my account if I don't get an answer.
I am not a member of the Geni-Team, but I do know that Geni has stopped allowing Gedcom Imports. And I have seen nothing indicating they plan to re-start any time soon.
Andrea - if you have noted others working in that area, you could send a Geni-message to one of the folks actively working there. He/she might well also be maintaining data on another Program, where he/she could use your Gedcom, if you were interested in sharing that way.
Thanks for your reply Lo. I did try to contact someone who was researching one branch of my family back when I listed my original post. I didn't find the system at all user friendly when trying to do so because this website doesn't recognize that I'm connected (and I'm not going to the effort of entering the amount of data necessary just to do that). To date I've had no response from the person I contacted. There are plenty of other sites that allow uploading of gedcoms without any issues. I'm using a free genealogy database that can be downloaded from the Familysearch website (and will never become obsolete because the Mormons will always keep upgrading it). and I regularly upload my trees (I'm researching my husband's family tree as well as those of the spouses of our children) to the free Rootsweb World Connect site where my information is freely available to anyone who is researching the same people.
Deborah, I understand your frustration and suggest you consider downloading Personal Ancestral File from the Familysearch site. That way your information remains your own and you don't have to pay to access it. I would also suggest you consider the Rootsweb site to upload your gedcom to. Not only do I use the site as a way of letting others know what I've done, but it also acts as my external backup.

Just so you know, the Familysearch website isn't owned by Ancestry. It's owned by the Mormons (Latter Day Saints) and, because genealogy is an important part of their church practices I can't see them ever selling up to Ancestry.
Rootsweb was probably the largest genealogy website on the internet 10 years ago. It was certainly very extensive and was set up as a free site for all genealogists. The administrators only charged nominal fees to cover costs for a very few things (eg. a website for someone within the Rootsweb domain name). When Ancestry did buy them out there was a covenant in the contract that Ancestry had to maintain the Rootsweb site as a free site for anyone who wished to use the services and activities it offered. As far as I'm aware Ancestry have honoured this contract, and the many projects that were undertaken by subscribers to Rootsweb to make genealogical information and records available for free to all interested parties still continue.
There are a lot of great websites set up by wonderful people dedicated to making records available to the general public for free (eg. Familysearch, FreeCen, FreeBDM, Online Parish Clerks to name a few) It's worthwhile exploring what you can find out for free before paying big bucks for the same information.

Wow! No GEDCOM imports. Who are you kidding? No one who has any time in on their research is ever going to enter their data all over again here. Get real!
Geni has stated that this is currently in-work and that they do plan to re-enable GEDCOM importing. They're just trying to make it smart so that it doesn't create mass duplication.
