How can I delete my tree?

How can I delete my tree?  my name and the name of my parentes is appearing on search of google and it is causing for us so many problens with privacy. Bandits are using our names and informations to buy things. I need to delete this tree and all infomations about the family. Thanks

  FYI: When I searched for Solange on Google, there is a lot of public information (and celebrities) with that name.

  However, adding "Geni.com" to that search, I found 5 profiles, of which one public profile was very old (1800's), another public profile was someone who died in 1983, and two more public profiles with little information nor with dates on them, but seem "old" (because of the number of generations).  There was one private profile which listed the name of Solange Regina.  If that is you, you can modify the privacy settings so virtually nothing is shown (I could see the spouse's and mother's names) ... and you ought to be able to do the same for the other family's profiles (if that is you).

  I really suspect that the real information by which others may be stealing identify is coming from elsewhere -- no location or any other information (other than name) is visible through Geni.com.

  But this doesen't really tell me how I can delete your tree. It only tells me how I can hide information.

  Is it not possible to completly delete a tree/profile with GENI?

  I don't see how anyone can use that information to "buy things."

  But Geni seems to be their usual unresponsive selves on this issue as on so many others.

  So how do you delete one's tree? If Karina wants to delete her tree, someone should tell her. I too want to delete what little information I have, it a privacy thing and names do come up when googled, personally I don't give a rats but others have asked me to delete them so hey, here's an idea, tell us how to delete it please

  I would like to delete Geni. I started it not realizing that someone else had started a Geni family one before. Now I can't do much on the other Geni site as this one takes over. I want it deleted so it does not show up. What can I do? Is there a delete button somewhere? Thanks.

  Hello Solange:

  You will need to delete any of the information you would like removed from the site, including any photos or profile information you added before you can close your Geni account. 

  To delete someone from your family tree click the small ‘x’ in the upper right hand corner of their box in the family tree view. Also, because building a family tree is a collaborative process, there are three cases where you will not be able to remove a person: 
  
  1. That person has joined Geni and "claimed" their profile. If this is the case, that claimed user must cancel directly from their account under 'Account Settings' and Close Account.
  
  2. That person has other relatives attached to him or her, who would otherwise be disconnected from the tree.
  This can be handled by first deleting the attached relatives, which will then make your target person removable.
  
  3. You do not have permission to edit that unclaimed Profile. 
  If you do not manage those Profiles, ask the Manager for assistance.

  Once you have removed the information you do not want on the tree, simply select 'Account Settings' and 'Close Account' to deactivate your account on Geni.

  Otherwise, to simply deactivate your account, you can find the close account page in your settings: Close Account
