Simple Question? I apparently have 833 Members in my family and want to be able to see all them on one tree????? None of this Ancestors or Descendants view... All in one tree because my life would be so much simpler trying to make connections if i could see them all and not have to click through all the little green plus symbols.... It would be nice to view on the computer but am really looking to print it out! Yes i know it will be huge! Wall size probably!

Graham Purchase I used to be able to view my extended family over the generations, but are unable to do so now.
I also used this info to rmember the names of cousins and their kids,. At my age this is necessary.
Please advice how to reagain this information

Dane Niehus My guess would be you are not a paying member.. Ever since geni put a limit on the size of tree's for free account there are a lot of people in your situation. Not exactly sure how it works for a free account but from what I read you can only view up to 100 family members I believe. -
Will Chapman (Vol. Curator) I have the same problem. I am a fully paid up Pro member and have over 6,000 profiles in my family tree. In my PC software (and various other web-based services) they all show up as a single tree.
However, in GENI, my family tree displays less than 500 profiles. Even more curious is that my mother's tree displays around 100 more.
Today I searched on the surname of one of my family names, selected one of the listed profiles at random and was surprised to find GENI warning me that only 6,000 of that tree would be displayed by default and INVITED me to load more!.
So I now know that GENI can display all of the contents of MY tree my question is "why does My Tree show less than 10% of 6,000 profiles uploaded?

Elizabeth Salsedo I want to make a printed copy of all my husband and my anscestors....print all this information that I along ith a few other relatives have entered, how do i do it?

Jeff, Geni Curator Please refer to our FAQ's: How do I print my tree?
For more extensive printing, you'll need to either export a GEDCOM (http://www.geni.com/gedcom) into a genealogy application that has advanced printing options or use one of the Geni apps.

Will Chapman (Vol. Curator) @Dane but I am a fully paid up Pro member as I stated in my original posting. I'm a great fan of Geni but I do find it frustrating that it is so cumbersome to see all of my 6,000+ profiles instead of the hundred or so that show up when I look at my tree,
One other thing: does anyone know how to add a new profile that is not attached to an existing tree? When I first joined Geni (2007) one was able to import a gedcom and at that time I had around 6,000 profiles in it. Since then, the tree I keep on my computer (in Legacy) has grown by about 1,500 and I would like to add some of those new branches manually to Geni. However, as those trees/branches don't already exist on Geni I need to be able to add at least one isolated profile to get the tree started. Apart from registering a new tree in another name I can't see a way to add a new profile? What am I missing?
Regards
Will

Jeff, Geni Curator Will, Dane's post was old and not applicable any longer. There is no longer a size limit. As for displaying more, it would be extremely difficult (computationally, visually, bandwidth) to render what you describe. I think you're expecting the impossible, particularly when considering this is a web based query serving several hundred thousand users. Even a local application with memory speed access to the data would have a tremendously difficult time rendering 6000 profiles and graph theory states that you wouldn't want to do this anyway, as you can't visually understand anything at that level. It's impractical to expect that from a web based service.
As for an isolated profile, just start it connected to someone and then disconnect it (in the relationship tab). Let me know if you need help (send me a private message).

Jeff, Geni Curator Here is a compact non-interactive visualization based on Geni data that can represent a larger generation set, but it takes a while to generate and you have to request it from the developer.

Will Chapman (Vol. Curator) Jeff
I take your point about greater demand on bandwidth but other interactive genealogical websites manage it - Genes ReUnited have managed it for years and recently they have improved it and Ican now display all 7500+ of my profiles in pedigree or tree (or ancestors, descendants, immediate family, list format etc. switching rapidly from one to the other (there is an initial loading time of about 30 seconds, but after that switching is virtually instantaneous). My Heritage is another but it is slower to navigate but faster with the initial load.
Thanks for the idea of how to add the beginnings of a new tree - neat idea!
Cheers

Jeff, Geni Curator Will, haven't seen that on My Heritage, maybe I'd have to zoom way out. Ya, if performance is not an issue and visibility of the profile placement is the only goal, then you can increase the generation count to display a much larger quantity. It's not anything I expect anyone would want to work normally with though. I'm sure they have some limits. Go to the bottom of the tree view and select preferences, and increase the Ancestors and Descendents to the level you want (perhaps "All"). Maybe in combination with direct ancestors only. Not sure of the goal there.. but good luck..haha
