Just to try Geni, I signed up for the free trial (the one that requires no payment). After getting a password, I clicked around a bit and found a few interesting items. But now, every click sends me back to the "Select your Geni Membership" page. Very frustrating. Is there really a free membership that is not the 14-day trial requiring a Pay-Pal or credit card number? If not, it might be nice to remove that option from the Membership option page.

Yes, basic accounts are free. Basic users can add up to 100 profiles to the tree and upload up to 1GB of photos, videos and documents (about 1,000 photos). However, users who expect more may choose to upgrade to a Plus or Pro Subscription.
A Geni Plus Member has the ability to:
- Add 1,000 people to the tree
- Upload up to 2GB of photos, videos and documents (about 2,000 photos)
- Communicate directly with our expert support staff
- Enhanced search: Search over 100 million profiles to find possible relatives
- Priority GEDCOM Support for exported files

A Geni Pro Member has the ability to access additional Pro feature on the site. These features include:
- Add unlimited profiles
- Upload unlimited media
- The ability to merge profiles

- The Geni Pro Badge: Identify yourself as a Geni Pro to family members and genealogists
- Premium support: communicate directly with our expert support staff

Any Geni user may become a Pro member from their Home page or by selecting ‘Account Settings,’ ‘Geni Premium Account’ and entering the required payment information or by simply clicking on the Geni Premium Account link.
