Status check box is missing from some people in my tree; cannot indicate deceased person

Natalie MacLees Hi Mark - First, I want to say that I'm so sorry for your loss.
You're not able to edit the living status of that profile because your mother had joined Geni. However, you can let us know when a family member passes away. Go to the person's profile, and from the Actions menu at the top right, select 'Report'. You can then select 'Deceased' as the reason for the report and fill in the details.
