changing email address - issue

In one of the profiles I manage, the person shares an email adress with another person. She now has her own email but I cannot edit the original email because it seems to be associated to 2 accounts? I have changed the email adress in the other profile but that still does not let me change the email adress in the managed profile. I can see the email in the edit profile section but there is no option to change it, only to delete it, and it won't delete.
