Simplify dates for easy reading

In  England, Australia, and New Zealand the day comes before the month.  Why not use the first three letters of the month as it would be less confusing.  Your system converts the spelling of a month to a number and flicks it around so the month comes before the date.  eg.  10 Apr 1961 becomes 4 10 1961 to us that's 4 Oct 1961.  Thanks Jill.
