I'm knee deep in trying to work on my family tree and noticing that the more information I plug in, I'm starting to see entries that show matches elsewhere on the site. Now, I've been considering a subscription for a while now but with the MyHeritage pairing, I'm now left with a question. If I were to purchase a membership plan (currently considering a Pro account), would that also allow me to use the abilities of MyHeritage? It seems like subscribing to both sites would become pretty taxing on the wallet so I'd like to see what my options are before I dive in. Thanks.

Jeff, Geni Curator They are separate Mike and this might directly answer your question: http://help.geni.com/entries/23390398-Why-aren-t-Record-Matches-Smart-Matches-included-in-my-Pro-subscription-
Choosing which one depends on what you want to focus on. They both have some aspects of tree building but in different areas.
The Geni Pro will give you Searching & Tree Matches (blue buttons) which allows you to compare your profiles to existing profiles on Geni. The goal there is to merge identical profiles into a single tree. This is great for building up to a certain point, then connecting into the larger World Tree once you see matches, which is usually already well developed, allowing people to focus on documenting and sourcing profiles, instead of duplicating others work. The focus is collaboration and we have over 70 million profiles in the world tree. http://help.geni.com/entries/500909-What-are-the-benefits-of-being-a-Pro-user-
The MyHeritage data subscription is focused on Records (orange buttons), Smart Matches (green buttons), and MyHeritage Super Search. This gives you access to Census, Birth, Death, Newspapers, etc. It also identifies matches to trees on MyHeritage, so that you may be able to learn new relationships, dates, places, etc from their 1 billion profiles of isolated trees and copy and source that data into your Geni profiles. If you're researching new lines or documenting profiles, then the MyHeritage subscription would serve well. http://help.geni.com/entries/23379793-What-are-the-benefits-of-Record-Matches-and-Smart-Matches-
