I started a tree, then my grandfather was reported as a match to a person in another tree. I checked and it was a match to my own tree!! Now I'm being sent email about that ridiculous match. Anything I try to do to find 'contact us' leads to the subscription page. Why should I pay good money for a faulty site? Is the solution to delete the tree - leave the site, and never come back?

Jeff, Geni Curator If it's a false match, then you can remove the match. There should be a button that states that they are not the same person. If it is the same person, then selecting yes should attempt to merge the two profiles into a single one.

Dan Cornett The "possible matches" is intentionally somewhat "loose" so that you can confirm that "Jeff Davis" with a wife "Samantha Davis (Jones)" ... and no dates ... is - or is not - the same person as a "Jeff E. Davis" with a wife "Sam Jones" who was born in 1867.
Possible matches are a means to identify potential new relatives; yes, they often may seem kind of silly to us humans, but the algorithm does not have the wisdom of a human! Just dismiss the "impossible" matches and check out (CAREFULLY!, looking at the surrounding "tree") the truly possible matches. If you don't have enough info to decide right then ... just leave it. Possible matches don't really "hurt" anything; they are just meant to be a guide. You might find more information later which will let you decide one way or the other.
