Hello,
How do I delete profile managers from some of my family tree profiles? The person in question has not been on Geni in over a year and I don't think she meant to mark herself as a manager.
Thanks,
Elizabeth

You can remove managers in the managers options in the Actions menu on a profile.
However: You can only remove managers that is not within the family group range of the profile.
Why should you remove an inactive manager?
If she have abandoned her profile (not logged in the last year), check if you have an "Abandoned tree" action in the Actions menu on her profile.
Management will then be shared with the closest relative which is an active Geni user.
You can remove a manager if the profile is private and outside the other person's family group (i.e. fourth cousin or closer). To do so, go to the Actions's menu, select Manager Options, then click the little (x) if it's visible on the person's name. Alternatively, the manager can relinquish management themselves via the same process.
If your purpose is not necessarily to remove them as a manager but gain additional edit permissions, there are a few options. A collaboration request, if answered, would grant you more access to their public profiles (family invite for private ones if outside your family group). You could add yourself as a manager to those profiles, if approved by the manager, via the manager options button for request management (during that process, she could mark you as the "primary"). Similarly, creating a duplicate of the profile and merging it would add you as a manager. There is also the button to Follow a profile if you're interested in seeing any activity on it.
You mentioned that the person has not been to Geni in over a year. On that person's profile's action menu, there should be an option to report their tree as Abandoned, which should transfer management to the closest active relative on Geni.
Thank you both for the information!
Elizabeth-
My problem is that I was invited to Geni by a person who had mutual relatives but we ourselves were not related. Because I accepted her invite and gave her other family info (which she is not part of) she automatically became the manager of the profiles that she created on my behalf. There has been a fallout between the two of us (privacy related) and I have requested to become manager to my own family profiles but she will not answer back and give me permission although she is very active on Geni. She cannot add info as I have set my settings for 4th cousin privliges. I would like to delete her as a manager but because I am not one I cannot do this. It is very strange that someone who is not related has such power over my own family profiles. It is very frustrating that I cannot add additional info such as siblings, date of deaths/births etc when I find it.

Monica, what you could do is create a duplicate profile (add a second spouse, or a duplicate child) then merge them using the more / resolve duplicates. Once the duplicate profile is merged, you will be added as a manager. Then, because she's outside your family group, you should have the ability to remove her as a manager as discussed below.
I'd like to know how someone unconnecetd with my family becomes the Profile Manager for members of my immediate family - i.e. my wife and son. I don't know the individual who is editing their profiles and he is not in any way connected with any arm of our families.
I spent hours setting up an extensive whole family tree for a famous person who has passed, as a tribute. Then after someone in his family merged with my profiles, they apparently removed me as a manager - though the profiles are not private. How can that happen and what can I do about it?
Alan, as they are your son and wife (ie Immediate Family) you can open the Actions menu on their profiles, choose Manager Options and then Add yourself as a manager (it is automatically approved because you are Immediate Family). Then, presuming the other manager is not within 4th cousins range, you can again go to the Manager Options and Remove the other manager.
Corinne, it seems from the way that you describe it that this other user is a Family Group member of the "famous person". If they didn't say thank you to you for creating their tree that is a little rude but other than that they are well within their rights to remove you as manager of their family members.
It's a pity that you're no longer listed as a manager on profiles you created but as they are still Public you should be able to view and access and edit them still.
Alex: It appears she may have made the profile private as well. All names and most info are hidden or removed ( only the first name remains).
I see it is the mother of the deceased famous person who has just done this today. But as an historical public figure, shouldn’t he be entitled to a public profile?
Privacy rules on Geni are based upon privacy laws that the company has to comply with, not logic or common sense :)
I have no idea who you are talking about, but if their mother is alive and active on Geni then Historical Public Figure doesn't seem like an accurate description?
If they are as famous as you suggest can you just tell me their name so I can look at the profile myself? Otherwise I don't see much value to continue discussing.
