Jeff, Geni Curator As a family member, she should have full access to those profiles regardless. So making her a manager will not likely change her permissions on the profiles, just make her the "contact" for them. If she has issues with the public profiles, then a collaboration request would help that, but not sure if it's necessary. However, it the goal is to actually be listed as the manager there are a couple options.
If her mother has not logged in for a long time, I believe she should be able to report it as an abandoned tree (can't recall if this is available to everyone or just curators), which will try to assign them to the closest active relative. Go to the mother's profile, click the actions menu, report, and select Abandoned Tree. If this option is not available, then a curator might be able to do it for you. However, this only works if the person hasn't logged in for a while (abandoned their tree). If they're still active, then she could request management of a profile in the actions menu, however, this would require it be done profile by profile. The alternative might be to have the mother close her Geni account, which might automatically shift the management to the closest active relative (if not, an abandoned tree could be submitted afterward).

Bjørn P. Brox Fran, just enter the Manager Options in the [Actions▼] menu on the profile. If you are the only manager the easiest method is just to hit the [x] after your name to remove your self as manager and assign another one directly without that persons approval, or use the Add manager option, and when accepted remove your self.
