Recording a deceased husband as a "late husband" or " deceased-husband"

My current wife's previous husband died in an accident and the only option to best describe him is ex- partner, this is causing problems in that his children are listed as my children, can I change this.

They should not be listed as your children unless they are connected as that, and a quick check on your family tree confirms that.

Just edit their profiles, select the Relationships tab and use the pull-down menu on parents to select the correct parents and save.
It might be easier to do that in tree view because you would immediately se the result.
