Search privacy - set some members to not searchable at all?

Hi!

I have some family members who do not want their name, photo, city, anything at all publicly displayed online, including in search results on Google, etc.  Geni's privacy policy seems to indicate a user can opt out from being listed in any way in search results.  But I can't find the option in Account Settings.  ??

From Geni's privacy policy:

"By default, the names of users are publicly searchable, but you can opt out in your account settings. (Your search result includes only your name, profile photo, city [...] )"

  Philippa, the primary thing you want to uncheck is "Let the public search for me (profile privacy settings apply)" in the Permissions (http://www.geni.com/account_settings/permissions).

  This will remove the indexing from searches like Google.  You can also change the account privacy, which would effect other Geni users outside your family group.

  Note that search engines cache their indexes for a period of time.  So unchecking it will not instantly remove it from Google, but it will be next time Google crawls the site.

  Thanks for the reply Jeff.  I am aware of the "Let the public search for me (profile privacy settings apply)" setting for my OWN profile.  What I am concerned about is the profiles I manage of living people.  How do I set their profiles to not searchable?

  I don't think you can hide the name from being searched, but that's all they would see.  That might change with the stricter policies required by MyHeritage, who recently purchased Geni.  Here are the options for the profiles you manage.  http://www.geni.com/account_settings/managed_profiles

  Hello Philippa:

  All living profiles (those that are unclaimed and not Master Profiles) will be made private and will not be searchable on Google. (http://help.geni.com/entries/21204763-What-profiles-are-private-)

  If your family members have already claimed their profiles (joined Geni), then they will need to login to their Geni accounts and update their own settings to not be searchable. You may refer your relatives to the following link from our FAQ section:
