I have tried 4 or 5 times to export my tree so I can take it to show my grandmother who doesn't have internet. When I go back to my email address, it says it has downloaded, but when I try to open it it says it can't be opened because it's not in the correct format!!! Since there is no help other than this or paying- which scares me after reading all these negative comments- I'm really frustrated. Is there a way to export it a different way or do I just have try to copy and paste everything?
The standard export for a family tree is in a GEDCOM format (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GEDCOM), which can only be easily read by programs designed for Genealogy. What you might want to do is print a poster (http://www.geni.com/family-tree/poster), which is a simple picture (jpg) that you can customize. If you want something more advanced, then you can import that GEDCOM into a Genealogy software that has different options for printing trees. An alternative would be to use one of the Apps that work directly with Geni.
