When I ask for merge, sometimes it do the merge, but in many case it only post a "request for merge". What is the rules? When can I merge someone, and when not?
Thank you.

You'll get a request for merge when the other tree is not connected to your tree or the world tree. If it's an isolated tree, then it needs someone from the other tree to confirm the match and do want to merge. This might also be due to the private nature of another profile but in the same tree. Curators can help resolve those.
So, what is the suggested solution for the following (frequent) situation:
I found a privat profile in my tree, that match another private profile in another isolated tree. For example my cousin's husband. But, the profile manager is a beginner and not familiar with Geni and maybe in general with computers etc Furthermore, he is not a PRO member, so he is can't perform a merge. So, we need to find a way to allow me to perform the merge.
Request him to collaborate? not affect private profiles.
Adding him to my familly group? allow him to merge, but not me.
(I have about 10 merges like this to do)!
Any suggetion?
Thank you.
Free users can perform merges. He (or anyone in that other tree) need only accept the merge request and you will get conformation that the merge has taken place. At that point, as the more experienced user, you can resolve the remaining duplication conflicts that exist. You only need acceptance on the first one from that tree and once they are connected, you should be able to do the rest. There is no way to force a merge with an isolated tree, even as a curator, we can not do that. If you don't hear a response, a curator (feel free to message me) can look at the last time the user logged into Geni. If it is an abandoned account, then we can report it. Yes, if the other person was in your family group, you should be able to perform all the merges yourself.
OK. So, I'll send invitation to join the familly group to all those who didn't renspond to my merge request for a long time. And if it also not work I will ask assistance from a curator.
Thanke you.
