Want to delete my account.......incorrect email address

  You find the option to both change your email and delete your account in the account setting you find in the options menu when clicking your own name in the upper right corner of any Geni page.

  No you don't. There is no delete account button.

  is it legal that there is no option to delete one's info? I don't want to transfer the management of my tree. I want to remove my tree from the database. I joined Geni before the change of ownership which will provide support in case of litigation.

  Theresa Valentine-Burrell Under account settings as described by Bjørn above, you can add the correct email address and then delete the old one.

  this doesn't answer the question. first, the account gets deactivated instead of deleted. second, after deactivation, the data and profiles are either "donated" to the community or transferred to a new manager. both options are different from deletion. i think anyone will agree with that. bjorn, thank you for your help but you kind of ignored the specifics of my question.
