I just ordered family tree DNA test kit. Would it make sense for my mom to also take the test? Or would my results cover her as well? Thanks you, Golda

  I assume you ordered the mitochondrial DNA test?  If so, there is no point in your mother taking it.  However, it would be useful to have a father or brother take the Y chromosome test.

  If you have ordered the Family Finder test (not the mtDNA test), then your mother would get many matches that you do not, as you have only 50% of her DNA.  With her tested as well you will be able to tell which of your matches are from your mothers side, and which are on your fathers side.  So, the answer to your question depends on what test you ordered :)
