How can I search for MY relationship to a historic figure, rather than through my wife?

I'm a Pro user, my wife is not; she uses Geni, but as a free user, and has built a family tree that's almost as extensive as mine.

I'm trying to search to see what my relationship is to a historic figure -- Deacon Edmund Rice.  I'm sure that I'm connected to him since he lived in Middlesex County, Massachusetts in the first-half of the 17th century, where I had many direct ancestors; I seem to be related to everyone else in that place and time.  But when I pull up his profile, and it says "You are related to Edmund Rice", and I click on "How are you related?" it just says "Deacon Edmund Rice is your wife's 9th great grandfather."  Yeah, I know.  I want to know how _I_ am related to him, not how my wife is.

I've noticed that on some Profiles, there's a circular arrows icon in the upper-right area that you can click to force Geni's search engine to re-calculate your relationship, but that icon doesn't show up on this (or many other) Profiles. 

Is there a workaround that would allow me to calculate the relationship from _my_ profile upwards, rather than sideways, through my wife's profile?  Can anyone help?

  I'm not aware of a way to make it attempt another path.  I think it just chooses the shortest path and the refresh just attempts to recalculate the same algorithm based on any updated connections.  One thing you could try is to ascend into your tree some.  You have the ability to choose someone other than your self as the starting point of the search (little green pin).  It will still search the shortest path, but perhaps if you pinned it on your GGF or something, it may find a shorter path to him.

  Please note that we typically display the closest relationship to you/focus person. Therefore, if the marriage relationship is closer than the blood one-we would show that one. Otherwise, you are seeing the one which was cached or calculated first.

  Also, please keep in mind that pending merges and recent merges can also prevent the closest relationship from calculating.
