Deleting Individual

Dear Sir/Madam,

I cannot find a way to delete an individual that I have added to the Geni tree. Other systems have a simple delete tab.  You select delete & the individual is removed from the tree. I think others have been frustrated by this issue as well. It would improve the quality of the tree if people could delete a person they have added by mistake to the tree. Leaving this info in the tree will only confuse other researchers looking at the tree.

I see others are frustrated by not being able to delete another tree they have  added to their tree.

It would help to have a tag that is easy to see. Eg Delete individual you have added or remove tree you have added. This will allow you to remove things only you have added & not info others have added.

  I'll bet if you upgrade to Geni Pro (and have to pay money) you'll all of a sudden be able to delete persons from your tree...  Just sayin'...

  I also am unable to delete people from my tree. this is very frustrating. For some reason, my tree added a person twice and I cant remove either of them

  Usually as long as those profiles is own by you and not belong to a user that log into Geni, it should be able to be deleted from a tree. If try to view the tree, you can see some boxes of profile have an "x" at the top right of it. Click it to remove it from the tree.

  I'm on a Pro subscriptions for several years so not sure if it is only for Pro. Not sure if deleting some profile might be considered as trying to remove relationship. That feature(remove relationship) is for Pro user only.

  My daughter ended up with her sisters children plus her own. How is that possible ? I was very careful.  Seems the last name carried over to the next sibling automatically > Whats Next ? will I be my own grandpa ?

  You was probably not focused, both by which name you used (yes, Geni comes with suggestions both on names and locations, but you don't have to accept them) and where they was added when you entered the profiles.

  Anyhow, just edit the names, and if located in the wrong location you can just move them in tree-view. The easies and most visible method is to take a closer look in the Relationship tab under edit profile on the children: The parents can easily be changed by a pull-down meni where the parents are listed.

  My Tree is totally wrong because people have merged their tree on to mine with wrong Elizabeth Swift,Now i can't remove it !!

  I was doing very well with my tree and then Wham. Another person with no connection to my family merged their tree with mine. All of my paternal ancestry has been changed to show that of the person who did the merging. I tried deleting it but the program will not allow me. I was intending to be  paid member but forget it if the program is going to be like that.

  I added several people in the wrong place and now I cannot delete them. When I tried, somehow I managed to duplicate names in the wrong places. How do I correct this?

  I want my ex-husband to be visible but now his new wife's family tree is added to ours, Can I stop or remove this connection somehow (it's administrated by someone else who has merged the trees) without deleting my kids in process? I tried removing the ex-hubby, but then the kids were suddenly my new husbands and mine...

  My Sister is Deceased 5 yrs. now i keep seeing her name for contact.. I wish I could (sad)

  My other Sister has a Birthday on the wrong day  & Month.. lol

  Charles, it doesn't appear that either of your sister's profiles are claimed.  You should just be able to edit them and set the proper living status / dates.

  There are persons added to the profile I "manage" , but not added by me.  The relationships are wrong/the person(s) has no relationship to me whatsoever (I only see way to "hide" the person(s) but no way to edit it so they are gone/the relationship(s) are correctly named.  Anyone know if I can fix this? Thanks.

  If you click Edit and then find the Relationships tab, you will have the option to sever incorrect relationships.  If you are still having trouble, please contact a Curator.  http://www.geni.com/projects/Geni-Curators/9960

  I have not paid to become a member but I did start a tree.  According to an email,  I had 3 matches.  2 of them appear to be legit but 1 of them includes a name of a man who is NOT my grandmother's son.  That family name happens to also be one of a recent celebrity's dad which would make me that celebrity's cousin.  Cool, if it were true, but alas it is not.  If for some reason we are related, this is not it!  HOW CAN I GET IT CHANGED?  Do I have to pay to change it?  Please let me of contact to correct it.

  It appears to be an ongoing issue with adding, editing and the like, hire a high school student who is computer savvy to correct the bungled programming.  If I had anything more than the free use, I would be screaming profanities galore!  The fact that errors can not be easily corrected should really foul up genealogical data bases that may use this error filled data!

  I am in Geni Pro and have problems. My son Divorced, and I cannot put down his wife as divorced. I tried, but it comes up as a second wife with the same name. I added his Partner, and she comes up as his wife, and I can not change that either.
