Why are location choices so far from field in which I'm typing?

My screen is set for larger characters as I have a visual impairment.  When I begin to type in a location, the place-name appears out of my field and I can only enter it after attempting many many times, some times not at all.  Can someone please fix this? Just put in the choices close to the typing area.
